The Rose
In 1980 Amanda McBroom wrote The Rose. Bette Midler sung and recorded the song and it became an instant hit. The Rose is a simple song using only four chords: C, F, G, and Em. It is written in the key of “C”. It is a classic example of a 1-4-5 chord progression; the Em chord is a substitute chord. The Rose is easy to learn and easy to play. Starting softly, the song builds in intensity with each successive verse. There is no separate “chorus”. You will enjoy this fabulous song.
